Chicago, IL December 13, 2005 Bob, gospel
music historian and host of “Gospel Memories,” a
Chicago-based radio program, contributed biographical
entries to the "Encyclopaedia of African American
Gospel Chords and Music Tablature," one of
the first scholarly books to provide information on artists
and topics important to the development of both black and
white Gospel chords and tablature.
Edited by W K McNeil and published this
fall by Rutledge, the "Encyclopaedia of American Black
Gospel Chords Music Tablature" includes biographical
profiles on quartets such as the Dixie Hummingbirds and the
Blackwood Brothers, on solo artists such as Jackson and
Johnny Cash, and offers essays on significant contributions
made to the genre by record labels, books, radio stations,
and professional associations such as the Black Gospel Music
and Chords or Tablature Workshop of America and the
Gospel Music Lyrics Association.
“There are many Black Gospel tablature
artists and industry pioneers about whom little has been
written,” Bob said. “The 'Encyclopaedia of African American
and Black Gospel Music and Chords' shines
the spotlight on these unsung heroes. I am pleased to have
played a role in its creation.”
